I loved capturing this cottage lake scene in acrylic. It's a scene, that I pass on my morning kayak rides in the early summer. Loved the way the light hit the iris leaves, dragon fly and swaying tall grasses, sprouting from the rich vegetation. So many interesting details in the hardened stump and colourful growth coming up from this little wild island.

I wanted to capture the pattern and multitude of colours that were flowing through these beautiful, Muskoka rocks, and contrast it to the clear, still water. There are so many hidden colours in rock, they are a joy to paint and have layers and layers of hues. This work has a sculptural affect created with oil paint layers and underlying modelling paste.

I was drawn to this scene of reflecting colour and dramatic clouds. I loved capturing all of the bright reds, soft yellows and indigo blues reflected off the water and picked up in the trees and rocks. I tried to create a sculptural feeling with the thick oil paint and underlying modelling paste.

I enjoyed working in oil for this wee chickadee. It allowed me to have a soft background with an indication of depth and branches. I tried to use lots of colour and texture to create a soft winter feel.

This little bird was so fluffy and I loved the angle of the branch and filtering light and colours. The work is textured and I tried to create an earthy, touchable feeling.

Birch bark trees are amazing to paint because they show shadows and light so beautifully. There are hundreds of beautiful colours in the bark and each brushstroke is a different colour tint, allowing the viewer to look for hours at the fine details of the work.
