Featuring work of Caledon artist Andrea Gregory
Most of Andrea's paintings are based on scenes from the towns and forests surrounding Caledon, Ontario, where she grew up. After graduating from the University of Guelph, with a Fine Art and Marketing degree, she focused on Marketing, but after starting a family and losing her dad to illness in 2005, her focus came back to art. Painting is like meditation for her and she tries to capture beautiful details, hidden colours, shadows and light in her paintings.
She loves to work with colour. Her mixing technique stems from early training in water colour painting, which focuses on mixing complementary colours to create layers of colour hues. She currently works with acrylic and oil paint and tries to create a textured effect, so that the work has a sculptural quality. She really enjoys detail and her paintings have many overlapping layers of detailed brush work, which require a great deal of time to create.
